Questions and answers

What is PromptPages?

PromptPages is an AI browser companion that turns any webpage into something you can ask questions about. You install a Chrome extension, open it on the page you are already reading, and PromptPages captures that page as context so the AI answers from what is actually on it rather than from memory.

How does PromptPages work?

PromptPages works in three steps. Install the Chrome extension and pin it, open any webpage you want to understand, then launch the extension to capture the page. PromptPages extracts the page content and opens a chat grounded in it, so you can summarise, question or audit that specific page immediately.

How is PromptPages different from pasting a URL into ChatGPT?

PromptPages reads the page exactly as your browser renders it — including signed-in content and anything loaded by JavaScript that a plain URL fetch would miss. It also skips the copy-paste step entirely and adds modes tuned for research, development and SEO, each with quick prompts calibrated for that kind of content.

Do I need to copy and paste URLs into PromptPages?

No. With the PromptPages extension there is no copying or pasting. You launch it on the page you are already viewing and it captures that page directly. Pasting a URL into the web dashboard is supported as an alternative, but the extension is the faster path and handles pages a bare URL cannot reach.

What can PromptPages do besides summarising a page?

PromptPages has four modes. General summarises and explains any page. Research pulls out methodology, contributions, datasets and limitations from papers. Development explains code blocks, decodes errors and inspects the network requests a page makes. SEO runs an on-page audit covering title, meta description, headings, word count and schema.

Which browsers does PromptPages support?

PromptPages ships as a Chrome extension and runs in Chrome and Chromium-based browsers such as Edge, Brave and Arc. It opens in the browser side panel so the page you are reading stays visible beside the conversation. The PromptPages web dashboard works in any modern browser.

Is PromptPages free to use?

PromptPages has a free tier that covers everyday use with a monthly limit on AI requests. Paid plans raise those limits and unlock advanced models. You can start on the free plan without a card, and upgrade later from the pricing page if you hit the limit.

Which AI models does PromptPages use?

PromptPages uses a combination of current large language models, including GPT-5-mini, chosen per task rather than a single model for everything. Paid plans get access to more capable models. Page content is retrieved and ranked before it reaches a model, so answers stay grounded in the page you captured.

Is my data secure with PromptPages?

PromptPages encrypts all traffic between your browser and its servers with SSL/TLS, and only captures a page when you explicitly launch the extension on it. Page content is sent to third-party AI providers bound by data processing agreements that forbid using it for their own purposes. Personal data is not retained longer than the service requires.

How do I install the PromptPages extension?

Install PromptPages from the Chrome Web Store, then pin it to your toolbar so it is one click away. The install link is on the PromptPages homepage and in the dashboard. Once pinned, open any webpage and click the icon to capture that page and start a conversation about it.

How do I report a bug or request a feature?

Use the feedback form inside the PromptPages dashboard, which attaches the context needed to reproduce an issue. You can also email support@promptpages.ai. Every report is reviewed by the team, and bug reports that include the page URL and what you expected to happen are the fastest to resolve.
